REPEATERS

Band-Selective RF Repeater

The Band-Selective RF Repeater (RFR) is designed to provide a more cost-effective solution than adding a new Base Transceiver Station (BTS) to improve signal coverage and communication quality in wireless network. And its easy installation and maintenance can help carrier get fast return.

The band-selective function can choose the efficient working band customized for the carrier. All signals in the whole band will be amplified.

Based on the working frequency, the Band-Selective RFR can be subdivided into 2 categories:

In comparison with FSR (frequency shift repeater) and FOR (fiber optic repeater), the RFR (band-selective/channel-selective) has the following benefits and disadvantages:

Pro Con
  • Easy to build the installation site;
  • Lower cost of equipment and site-building.
  • Inappropriate installation may cause self-oscillation;
  • The Coverage Antenna shall face against the Donor Antenna, which limits the coverage angle;
  • High signal noise may be introduced since the Donor Antenna picks up signal from the air;
  • The repeater shall be installed within the coverage of BTS.
